Markmed Cup 2022

As a part of the preparation for the world championship, there was Markmed Cup held in Pilsen. The format of the tournament was made even more interesting by adding the Czech U-23 team, that have also competed.

According to the tournament program each team was supposed to play two matches against each other. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the whole tournament took place without the presence of spectators, but the matches could be watched online through the mobile application Hokejbal. Markmed Cup itself has brought some surprises as the tournament favorite Slovakia ended up in the last place with 2 points out of twelve possible. A good signal for the future of Czech ball hockey is the results of the U-23 category, which finished in second place with 5 points and was an equal opponent for both teams. The whole tournament won the Czech national team as they lost only one point through the event against Slovakia.
